An artist’s chase – seeking you, a poem

An Artist's chase a poem by Alok Mishra

Further I went,
farther you seemed
from my reach.
Chasing your impressions
on the beach,
bench in the park
or the empty corners
in my library –
I could (not) see;
I wasn’t seeing
at all!
And you,
like that ‘missing’ thing
in every artist’s effort,
remained true, steadfast,
unwavering and patient
by my side,
in every stride
I took
chasing you
(lunacy)
and only you,
(ecstasy)
.

  1. Very intriguing poem… I could feel it to an extent. I can also relate to the situation described in the poem. The art of the artist does remain caged in someone or something or in the artistry itself. Wonderful poem again!
