Finding The Raven Book Review

Patty Dickson Pieczka is a well-known author and poet. Expecting something quite interesting and quality literary production from her is nothing wrong. Her latest book – Finding the Raven, has once again switched on the forgotten films of the ‘days passed’. Patty has used the central theme of St. Louis World’s Fair wonderfully in her book but has quite successfully intruded into the lives of people in the beginning of the twentieth century.

What the book will offer you is – two love stories; one beautiful story depicting the struggle of Julia; several stories of ambition and so much to think… The characters are just as lively as you would ever want them to be. Rose and Julia will surely make a home in your heart for a long time even after you finish the book Finding the Raven. The theme of the novel, along with the underlying themes, will offer you a captivating reading that will not let you set the book off until you are finished. The magic; the motivation; the love; the adventure and a beautiful handling of all of these is truly the best part of the book.

On a critical note, Patty has done something that most of the authors don’t do these days. She has shifted her ‘world in the novel’ back in the time when things were ‘quite different’. Without proper handling and interesting plot, no author can do it confidently and on this ground, one must admire Patty Dickson’s choice! The Hillman’s, the epitome of royalty and their tender daughter who just wants true love will surely remind you of a class, a class that existed in the classics of the Victorian age… I have enjoyed the coffee shop romance between Rose and Eric in the book so much, and fortunately, it culminates in a happy marriage after so many, so many of troubles for the couple. Such romance, which moves quite beautifully in the book, has become rare these days when authors seem so much on the fastlane! I must admit!

The book has made the use of magic very beautifully. The introduction of Clarice, the gypsy who tells the future, is crucial in the book. She guides the major characters in the book (to their destiny). In short, each and every character is linked to each other so carefully. It’s a good read whether you have to examine the book critically or read it for enjoyment!
