Agile in the New Economy by Ashok Singh – Book Review

The world is changing, rather fast, and we have too little time to adjust. The age of corona virus has taught us how to survive with essentials and, likewise (though on the contrary) bigger gains in the stock market can lead us in a position to spend big on brands. So, our response to the situation is mostly, if not always, based on the thoughts, awareness and ‘community’ behaviour. However, to all those entrepreneurial minds there, all those business owners out there and all those CEOs, team leaders and managers – can we react to something and stay safe or we should rather act and stay confident? Which option would you prefer? If you would rather be brave and act to bring certain favourable situations for yourself and your business, you are just one step away – I recently read the book Agile in New Economy by Ashok Singh and I am sure you will love it… because of many facts I am about to reveal. Let’s get into it!

“Rude awakenings are painful”

And you will find that the book, even before it begins, is powerful right from the moment you start reading that wonderful preface which tells too much about the book, the author’s intent and the content’s usefulness. In the section on who should read this book, the author has rightly said that the book will be useful for leaders, managers and simply anyone who wants to achieve higher results in life. Then comes the introduction which is also an essential part of this book, followed by chapters that are categorised wonderfully.

The author, Ashok Singh, has tried to introduce the readers to the change that is already here or about to come (whatever is left to come). Then, he tries to prepare the readers with valid reasoning, fact-based analysis and self-inspiration to change and use the changes which are already here or due to come (in the field of business, technology and general thinking). You will find introductions to mobile, data, blockchain, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 3d printing and so many other things, ideas and concepts that will be there to change our future in the coming years… and those years are not very far!

Ashok has schooled the readers with basics, probable usage and the space for things being described in ‘the new economy. The readers, who are supposed to be business leaders or minds with ideas about future businesses, will find these small pockets of information very useful. They can also extract their due from it – how to make use of these ideas, innovations or concepts to accelerate their business process, transactions, transformation or simply anything that aids to the current production or output.

Chapter 5, also the last chapter, is very helpful after getting all the information about futuristic technology and ideas in the chapters before it. Yes, the book has only five amazing chapters and it runs about 70 pages. The last chapter should be read carefully by any reader who wants to understand how a basic business functions and how one should approach it. The fifth chapter tries to communicate to the readers the secrets that Ashok has observed in his very long, over two decades, career while working with giants and sharks of the ocean known as corporate… Don’t waste any bit of it.

Highlights: why the book is a must-read?

a. The author is arguably the best person to have written such a title!
b. The book is based on experiences that are well-earned, case studies that are factual, assumptions and conclusions which are well-documented and properly referenced as well!
c. The book does not bore the readers. It is short, factual and to the point.
d. The author does not boss around while sharing his ideas and vision (like many authors usually do).

So, are you ready to move your body and be agile? Ready for the transformation that is about to come? Ready to face the world with your conquering business idea? Get a copy of Agile in the New Economy, and, be ready – the future is coming faster, anticipate the change and respond swiftly!
